Fri. Aug. 19- Gilded Cage Burlesk presents:
A living legend of Burlesque, Satan's Angel performs her acclaimed monologue, "Have Pasties, Will Travel.” This one-woman retrospective covers Angel's career during the midcentury golden era of Burlesque. Angel shares her memories of days spent with Hollywood's elite movie stars, and nights with legendary crooners such as Frank Sinatra and Sammy Davis Jr. She talks candidly about the bygone days of burlesque, and the often tragic results of being a gay artist at a time when being openly gay was a punishing experience, often quite literally. She'll chronicle her rise to fame, her fall into obscurity, and her fiery return from memory into her current-day status as one of the world's most sought-after performers.
And then there’s a late show....
Intergalactic wisecracker Dean Martian MC’s "A Cosmic Carnivale,” featuring dancing, burlesque, oddball performances and more, as select stars take the stage between all-vinyl sets of rockin’ music by local favorite DJ Mello.
@ Exhale Bar & Grill (6132 4th St. NW) shows start 8pm/10:30pm, tickets $15/$10 or $20 for both shows.
